Turkish coach Mehmet Tayfun Türkmen was born on 23 April 1962 in Konya, Türkiye. He holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has built a coaching career spanning more than three decades, beginning with Yurdumspor Köln in Germany in 1991.

Türkmen has worked with numerous clubs in Türkiye, including Gençlerbirliği, Hacettepe, Aksarayspor, Zonguldakspor, Sidespor, Afyonkarahisar, Marmarisspor, Akşehir Spor and GB Asaşspor. His career has also included academy and assistant coaching positions at Gençlerbirliği, Konyaspor and Sarıyer.

His international coaching experience includes several clubs in Ghana, including Wa All Stars, Heart of Lions, Dedebit FC and Pacific Heroes FC, as well as FC Heartland in Nigeria. His career therefore combines extensive experience in Turkish football with coaching assignments in Africa.

Türkmen's most recent coaching position was at Pacific Heroes FC, where he took charge on 22 September 2021. His spell ended on 1 November 2021, after which he became a free agent.
